Fairly common up to 1050 m. Attracted to bait and spitwads.
Similar species: Plain, but combination of vague purplish sheen on V and pale area at base of VFW (often not visible) is distinctive; O. orthos minka is much more purple on V.
Orthos orthos minka
Uncommon up to 550 m. Attracted to bait and probably spitwads.
Similar species: Much more purple on V than O. orthos orthos, and has FW apical spots.
